Meet with our English Teacher, Sareth Vathana. She is 17 years old, is now preparing for upcoming grade 12. Vathana joined GUES as a student since she studied in grade 3^rd. One time, Green Umbrella’s English School was looking for alumni students to work as part-time teachers. Vathana was applying for this position.

There were 10 candidates apply for a part-time English teacher. GUES selected only 4 candidates and Vathana was one of the candidates that passed the interview.

She was starting work as a part-time English Teacher more than one year until now.  During this period of time, she gains ideas for teaching, problem-solving, and building confidence.

She had face challenges to manage students in class, nevertheless, she improved herself to be a leader and building self-development in order to solve problems by joined workshops with Green Umbrella one time a year about leadership and design thinking. She also had experience work as a volunteer with Green Umbrella to run a mobile library for six months. She keeps developing herself because she loves to be a teacher and she likes working with kids.

Vathana comes from Chambok Village, Putsor Commune, Bati District, Takeo Province. She has two siblings in the family and she is an older one.

She wants to share her knowledge with children in the community and meet other new challenges in her journey. In the future, she wants to become a teacher and doctor.
