August Newsletter 2021
Welcome to our August Newsletter!
Last month we focused on ‘hope’ whereby we wrote about the 550 Food Kits distributed to student and rural Cambodian families, funding of the new Pot Sar Health Care Centre Facility, and our initial work as we transition from KKS Primary School to Early Childhood Education.
Thankfully we continue this positive theme as we focus on students ‘back to school’ Although January is the month students in Cambodia start their school year, it is at this time in many parts of the world when children are waved off to school after a long break. This year, we return with you!
With the roll-out of vaccinations in Cambodia, 46 fully vaccinated students were delighted to be able to return to school this week, after 6 months of online learning due to the pandemic. Although schools are not yet officially open, vaccinated students can come to meet their teachers and other students, and to collect their take-home lessons. Our teachers are very happy to see the children back at Green Umbrella, however, it will be another month or so before teaching will resume full-time in the classroom.
Green Umbrella continues to focus on developing its ECE philosophy and the set of beliefs for how we want to see kindergarten children learning and being cared for at school.
Finally, during this time when many people worldwide are struggling financially, we appreciate that creativity is required when fundraising for the work we do here at Green Umbrella. Combining a passion with a charitable cause led to a Green Umbrella Tennis Tournament in Singapore. 30 ladies competed and had fun while raising funds for our Food Program.
Thank everyone for being a part of our work! We hope you continue to connect with our students through these newsletters and to support what we do here at Green Umbrella.
